While constituents meeting Senators and their staffs was the priority and primary motivation behind last week’s Clean Energy Works fly-in, the presence of almost 200 people from around the country was also an opportunity to publicize the wide support for comprehensive climate and clean energy legislation to a bigger audience.
The Town Hall Meeting was a series of four panels that featured two Senators – John Kerry (MA) and Jeff Merkley (OR), retired veterans, business people and workers. John Kerry, the Senate leader for this effort, was articulate, focused and passionate. That last is not something many people have historically associated with the Senator, but if you watch sections of this event, you will see that come across.
