Kitana's name comes from the merging of a combo of Kitsune and Katana, Kitsune being Kitana's original name in predevelopment and katana the word for a traditional Japanese weapon.<br>When his story did not match up Quan Chi gave Sindel an orb that kept her in a trance like state. Quan Chi was directed towards the Temple of the Elements which was located somewhere in the Himalayas. What Shang Tsung failed ot tell Quan Chi was that no sorcerer could enter this temple so Quan Chi would need to recruit a powerful warrior to retreive it for him. Quan Chi located the Lin Kuei and bargained to have one of their warriors storm the temple and in return Quan Chi would use his magic to wipeout the Shirai Ryu clan.<br><br>Kitana appears in the seventh installment of the hit fighting game franchise. She participates in an enormous battle royal between all Mortal Kombta fighters in front of a giant pyramid, which each fighter also attempts to ascend. Like almost all the fighters apart from Shao Kahn and Raiden she is killed during the massive brawl. Kitana leads rebels to slay Shao Kahn but finds that the deadly alliance of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung have already slain the Emperor of Outworld.<br>Liu Kang follows the teachings of the Shaolin White Lotus Society and was sent to the Temple of Light to defeat Shang Tsung. He desired to defeat Shang Tsung and bring the tournament back to its Shaolin owners. Liu Kang was trained by Master Bo'Rai Cho, who taught him the Flying Kick.<br><br>
